Certificate of Identity

Certificate of Identity (CI) can only be issued to Fiji Citizens whose passports have expired or are lost and urgently need to travel to Fiji.

• Certificates of Identity are valid for a year from the date of issue and are not renewable;
• A Certificate of Identity is issued only once;
• A CI is only valid for one way travel to Fiji;
• A CI cannot be issued for travel from Fiji to another country.

APPLICATION FOR A CERTIFICATE OF IDENTITY
• An accompanying letter to state the reasons for emergency travel
• Completion of a passport application form as explained above
• Expired or damaged passport;
• If passport is lost/stolen; a police advice slip or report as evidence that the loss/theft has been reported to the local police;
• Documentary evidence of circumstances requiring the need for an emergency travel document e.g. Doctors certificate in cases of emergency travel to visit sick relative in Fiji.
